BY FOLLOWING THE STEPS DESCRIBED IN THE REST OF THIS DOWLOADING PAGE YOU AGREE TO THE ABOVE TERMS:
  1. You can aim at a completely automatic installation process:
    1. Simply download SculpTextDemo.exe and run it.
    2. The automatic installation process will also offer to execute the demo of SculpText in PowerPoint. This file contains some prepared examples of SculpText demos. Beware that at some point PowerPoint will warn you regarding the executing of an external (SculpText) ActiveX control. You will have to grant the permission as requested for the demo (and SculpText in general) to run.
  2. Alternatively, you can install SculpText manually as follows:
    1. SculpText was compiled with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 SP1 which means you need the run time of this compiler installed before you can use SculpText. You can download this "run-time-environment" (aka "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package") from (~2.5M) Microsoft or from here. To install the "run-time-environment" simply run this file once.
    2. Once the run time is installed, open a command ('cmd') window as 'administrator' and:
      1. Download the SculpTextDemo.zip file, unzip it in some new directory and cd to it.
      2. Run "regsvr32 SculpText.ocx". The regsvr32 is a windows utility to register the SculpText.ocx ActiveX to the system. Typically it can be found in "c:\windows\system32\regsvr32.exe". If a popup shows up stating the registration is successful, you are done. Otherwise, one of the following could be the problem:
        1. You are not running cmd as 'administrator'. Even if you are considered an 'Administrator', when you execute programs they do not run with all privileges and you specifically cannot access the entire registry. Make sure you run the 'cmd' program as 'administrator'.
        2. Alternatively, the MSVS 2005 SP1 run time environment is not properly installed and so some dlls are missing.
    3. It is time to try SculpText in PowerPoint. In the directory where you opened SculpTextDemo.zip in step 2.1, you will also find the SculpTextDemo.ppt PowerPoint file. This file contains some prepared examples of SculpText demos. Beware that at some point PowerPoint will warn you regarding the executing of an external (SculpText) ActiveX control. You will have to grant the permission as requested for the demo (and SculpText in general) to run.
  3. Refer to the Installation and First Use document that is also provided with SculpTextDemo.zip and SculpTextDemo.exe files, for more installation details and first use. See also the SculpText's User Manual. user manual
